For example, attitudes of American exceptionalism, ignorance of the world outside the USA, etc. In my experience this is usually the context in which it’s used.

My use of USians is reserved for a particular type of (almost always white) American attitude/behavior and that’s usually how I see it used even amongst Americans who use it. It has nothing to do with geography, and it’s usually used in reference to a particular type of nonsense that USians exhibit.

Taking a broad and more literal view of the word sensual, the first book that came to mind was The Summer Book by Tove Jansson. Set on an island in the gulf of Finland, it lingers on the sensory and renders everything on the island magical and full of wonder.
