I found a novelization of the Lucasarts game The Dig by Alan Dean Foster. A badge at the bottom of the cover advertises "SPECIAL OFFER ON THE DIG CD-ROM GAME! SEE LAST PAGE" The last page of the book which reveals that the special offer is "Buy the game, get a hat" if you buy the game directly from Lucasarts for $29.99. There is a 1-800 number to call.

Got a little more shop work in today, which included sanding and putting another layer of finish on the guitar body. Depending on the angle you view it from, the difference in color between the two halves is very visible, or almost not at all!

There's an optional boss in SquareSoft's Super Mario RPG (1996) named Culex who is an homage to Final Fantasy, but maybe that's too tangential for this list.

The first book that Dr. Seuss illustrated was called Boners and along with three other titles - More Boners, Still More Boners, and Prize Boners for 1932 - was anthologized as The Pocket Book of Boners.

(In the 30s, "boner" was a word for a humorous or embarrassing mistake)

A Steinberger Spirit bass. It's a headless design with a black trapezoidal body, two soapbar pickups, and three knobs. There's not much to the body at all. It barely extends beyond the edge of the pickups.

We love this story here in Oregon. It's basically a state holiday. My local minor league baseball team, the Emeralds, temporarily changed their name to the Exploding Whales and the graphic they came up with for it is incredible.

This is my "if money were no object" guitar, though if they made a version with a bound body and fretboard and triangle inlays I'd take that to match my 4003W
A Rickenbacker 650D electric guitar. It has a 620 style body with an upper horn similar to the 4001/4003 bass guitars, a small lower horn, and walnut body and headstock wings attached to a maple neck that goes through the body. The body and fretboard are unbound and the fret markers are simple black dots.
