With the Blues and C-17 scrapped due to the shutdown, there were not going to be any jets performing at the Wings Over North Georgia Airshow. Fortunately, they were able to add Scott Farnsworth and his Aero L-39 Albatross at the last minute.

Timing: Sometimes you are just in the right spot at the right time and catch something extra in the background. I was excited when it looked like the jump plane from the Chuters Parachute Team was going to fly right behind one of the jumpers at the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show.

Last time I was at Vogel State Park in Georgia during the fall color season there wasn’t much color above the Trahlyta Waterfall. This year was a different story, colors were abundant. This was taken on October 30th.

It was a great addition to the show. I look forward to seeing them again at a future show. Here are a few images from the Saturday performance.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen a wingwalker performance, so I was excited to see Wingwalker Sam (Samantha Tryggvason and pilot Mike Tryggvason) on the list of performers for the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show.

Last weekend at the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show was my first time seeing a Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe. This is a replica from the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach. You don’t typically think of a jet flying at the end of World War II.

Last weekend at the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show was amazing. I met some great new people and had a blast capturing the action. One of the photo pit areas was set up right at the turn marker so planes were turning near the end of the runway very close to us.

Here’s another shot from Saturday morning’s sunrise at the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show.

Texan Sunrise: At the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show, we had some great flying action but also had some great static items to shoot. Ricardo von Puttkammer’s Photo Pit attendees arrived at 6:15 AM for sunrise.

A close-up view of Thom Richard flying the P-40 at the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show. The lineup was fabulous.

It was a great weekend meeting lots of new aviation photographers, pilots and enthusiasts.

On this Veterans Day we honor all of those who served in the past and who are serving today for their country. Thank you so much for your service!

Here’s a behind-the-scenes view of the QuickSilver P-51 image I shared yesterday from the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show. I will often setup my second body with a wider lens and just see what gets captured while I’m shooting with my main body.

I had the most amazing day yesterday in the photo pit at the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show! I took so many pictures and was completely exhausted at the end of the 13 hours of activity, but it was so worth it. I just had time to process this one image.

I also drove down to the nearby Duke Energy Visitor Overlook overlooking Lake Jocassee. I did not really know if was there but followed the overlook sign and, wow, what a surprise! The view was amazing.

This morning, I was able to visit somewhere I haven’t been in five years. I wasn’t sure what the color would be like at Upper Whitewater Falls but figured I would check it out and see. It was past peak, but there were still some trees with color.

This year was my first year seeing Redline Airshows perform. First at Sun N Fun and then near home in Rome, Georgia. I can see why they are so popular and in demand. Ken and Austin Rieder fly the Van’s RV-8 and put on a great show!

Last week I made a whirlwind tour in the North Georgia mountains enjoying the fall colors on October 30th. I ended my trip watching the last light of the day fade away at the top of Black Rock Mountain State Park.

Welcome to Helton Creek! As you are hiking up to Helton Creek Falls you pass the lower cascade and then walk up some steps towards the upper cascade. Just as you get to the top of the steps you can see the upper cascade through the walkway. It’s as if the walkway is saying “Welcome!”

I’ve been to Anna Ruby Falls in Georgia several times at different seasons, but I have never been there during peak fall color—until yesterday, October 30th. It was a great day for shooting waterfalls with the cloud cover.

This year was the first night show for the Wings Over North Georgia Airshow. I have numerous images of Quick Silver P-51 from the past several years, but they are all daytime images. It was neat to be able to get some different perspectives from the night show.

One of the things I was looking forward to at this year’s Wings Over North Georgia Airshow was their inaugural night show. It did not disappoint!

One of the highlights was Bill Braack and the Smoke-N-Thunder Jet Car.

Sunset Reflections: Following my post from yesterday with Scooter flying in the night edition of the Wings Over North Georgia Airshow, here are a couple of images of the amazing fiery sunset that was going on behind us reflecting off the polished surfaces of Quick Silver P-51.

Thanks so much to John Cowman and JCL Management for putting on a great Wings Over North Georgia Airshow despite numerous challenges this weekend. I particularly enjoyed the night show.
