Mostly-retired oldish liberal bloke. Sourdough enthusiast and grateful post-brexit plastic Irishman (thanks, Granny!) Hopelessly optimistic sometimes. Extreme left + right evangelists, crypto crap and sex-bots ignored or blocked.
Shocking.

I wonder if other UKIP/Reform members who parroted pro-Russian views were also on the take. It would explain a few things.

Hopefully police are looking at Reform ‘leaders’ for any evidence of similar corruption - it might make them reflect on some of their nasty propaganda.
The next time Reform UK come looking for your vote at an election, claiming to love our country - remember that these are the kind of people they appoint as their leaders.

What I cannot work out is *why* Labour thinks saying "It was right to cut Winter Fuel Allowance last year and it's right to reinstate it this year because circumstances changed so much"

Is better than "We listened to you, we got it wrong, we've fixed it, and we're sorry".

We’re getting there 👏
Right now, the UK grid is being powered by 72% generation that has no fuel costs.

Wind producing 58.3%
Solar producing 13.2%
Nuclear producing 11%
Gas producing 6.1%

It took a while (purely due to numptiness), but the deed is now done. Bye bye Elon!

This bloke seems to epitomise the very worst of the modern Conservative Party. I didn’t always agree with people like Ken Clark, William Hague or Justine Greening but they weren’t a million miles from my own views. Jenrick is at least that. Awful man.
Here is the key section of that train wreck of an interview by Robert Jenrick on #r4today.

Robinson: Did you raise it when you were Home Office minister?

Jenrick: We talked about it... I wasn't... My portfolio... But we talked about it.

Only a minute, if you can bear it. ~AA

It seems a good time to repost this pearl from @iandunt.bsky.social
Robert Jenrick is speaking but I don't see any reason to inflict it on you. Watching him grapple with issues of moral importance is like watching a mop try to use Windows 95.

It’s a while since I’ve seen more than a few watts being produced by my #solar #pv and it’s very welcome! 😎

First loaves baked since getting home at the weekend. My #Sourdough starter’s sulking a little after a couple of weeks in the fridge, but hopefully it’ll liven up in time for some jalapeño and cheddar loaves by the end of the week 😋

I’d be more inspired by something like this than I am with his government’s current approach. How about you, @fleuranderson.bsky.social?
Imagine what Sir Keir Starmer might say if he were to come out in favour of reversing the damage done to Britain by Brexit...

I’ve delayed starting Karla’s Ghost by @harkaway.bsky.social till a holiday with time to enjoy it. A hundred pages in it reminds me of devouring Le Carre first time round, in the 70s and 80s. Utterly brilliant, unputdownable so far, and it could be his Dad writing. I do hope there’s more to come!
