This past Saturday in Columbus, Ohio, I paid $2.18 a gallon at the UDF on High Street just north of 270. The Shell next to it had regular for $2.17, but had problems with its pumps. The Meijer just up the road had regular for $2.08. It was about 40 cents more outside the metro area.
HASSETT: Gas prices dropped below $2 a gallon in a lot of places

CORDES: Gas prices on average are still at $3 a galloon

HASSETT: For a few states they got below $2

A little bit out of sorts because of a change in travel plans, but: Fire up … It’s Saturday! Go Michigan! Beat the Buckeyes! (and the officials, too, apparently)

Today’s example of life being more ridiculous than a story in The Onion.

Dang. Bicycle kick goals are so cool. And congratulations to Scotland for qualifying for the World Cup! First time since the 1998 Cup. They beat Denmark 4-2 to secure their spot.

Cheez-It is sponsoring the Citrus Bowl? What an odd flavor combination. Cheese with oranges and grapefruit? I guess having some orange wedges on a charcuterie board isn’t a bad idea.
Happy to report: they heard our cries and after 3 years on the sideline Prince Cheddward is BACK for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl this year!

I still have my 1990s-era set up, with mostly Technics gear. It would be all Technics, but my first system was stolen back in 1998 and when I replaced it I couldn’t find a Technics equalizer so I got a Yamaha. I never had a proper rack for it, just an old stereo shelf thing my mom wasn’t using.
dreamed i had my stereo from the 90s and now i want nothing more than to have this back

The only other Tiger to win back-to-back Cy Youngs was Denny McLain in 1968-69.
The last AL pitcher before Tarik Skubal to win back-to-back Cy Young awards was Pedro Martinez for the 1999-2000 Boston Red Sox.

As someone who started wearing a fedora at the relatively young age of 21, I approve of this young man's style choices. However, vests/waistcoats are not for me — too restricting. My dad, who was an attorney, enjoyed wearing three-piece suits for work, though. He looked good in them.

Boooo! Lou needs better lobbyists. Everyone loved Fernando, but the only reasons he made this ballot are because of Fernandomania and he died relatively recently. He’s nowhere close on the JAWS scores, and he’s generally worse statistically than Jack Morris, who is considered a low-tier HOF’er.
Lou Whitaker did not make the ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Contemporary Era Baseball Committee. The list:

Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Carlos Delgado
Jeff Kent
Don Mattingly
Dale Murphy
Gary Sheffield
Fernando Valenzuela

Era includes players whose primary contributions came after 1980.

Earlier today I was telling a friend, while I was wearing a Steelers sweatshirt, that the Steelers have had some awful alternate uniforms. I didn't even know that tonight they were going to wear whatever the heck these uniforms are. Blech.
