The No Kings protest in Newark, Ohio. Our reporter at the scene says about 1,000 people are there. After events in smaller cities this afternoon, the main protest will be at the Ohio Statehouse at 4pm.

The public deserves input, claims Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman, but first politicians have to “negotiate” in private, even though they just blew past a deadline for a bipartisan map with no negotiations at all. He just drips condescension for the voters and their intelligence.

We are in the “heads I win, tails you lose” era of the U.S. Supreme Court, where ruling in favor of Trump is the only consistent metric for their application of the rule of law and Constitution of the United States.

Trump is proposing to cut 93% of the budget for the Appalachian Regional Commission. Because Trump and JD Vance really care about Appalachian people and communities, and they definitely aren't just cynical opportunists playing people for suckers and then openly betraying them.

Ohio AG Dave Yost's statement on the Supreme Court's birthright citizenship rulings decision. He seems to believe it's judges trying to exert kingly powers by protecting constitutional rights, which is an odd way of looking at things, given all of human and American history.

An Ohio state senator threatening public school funding if school officials don’t fall in line. This is totally normal and healthy functioning for Ohio government. Not at all gerrymandered lawmakers acting like goons running a protection racket.

For anyone with any decency whatsoever, this is not OK. Depriving a child of cancer treatment is as low and immoral as it gets. These children are U.S. citizens. This cruelty won’t last. One day America will regain its humanity and this will shame, stain, and embarrass us forever
