Hmm, not convinced.

Barney greets me more because I'm his servant. He knows Nic regards him as a fellow household member not someone whose every wish should be granted immediately!

Ycmv!
New research reports that cats meow more frequently when greeting male owners. It’s hypothesized that men “require more explicit vocalizations to notice and respond to the needs of their cats.” In other words, the researchers are suggesting that many cats have concluded that men don’t always listen

Dammit, so History Hit has to go. So disappointed as I have enjoyed the show in the past but Dan made his choice . Plenty more history podcasts in the sea.

BBC2 wins hands down. Least awful schedule by far!
Tell you what, I reckon BBC Two have got Christmas Day in the bag this year.

Barney has injured his tail, he's been bitten near the base. Vet has given him some antibiotics and sent him home with cat anti-inflammatory liquid. No cone of shame though his tail has been shaved around the base so it looks like a stem of pampas grass! His dignity has taken a battering!

Woah! Did the @projectmoonbase.com guys ever cover this on their show? It has a very funky theme tune!
La Soupe aux Choux ("Cabbage Soup"), a French cult sci-fi comedy, was released 44 years ago today.

"Two old peasants with a penchant for the bottle live far removed from modern life. One night, an alien lands in Le Glaude's garden with a flying saucer..."

I heartily recommend Adrian's reading of Service Model. His narration of the adventures of UnCharles and The Wonk is brilliant. I loved it. Get this book, doesn't matter if it's audio, physical or ebook, but you have to read it.
For UK Audible users there are some monthly deals on my books: Service Model, Children of Memory and Doors of Eden are all £3.99 for December.

Went up Fulham way to have lunch with the boys to celebrate Nic's birthday. Had a very nice roast pork Sunday lunch at a bustling Italian restaurant.

having gone to university as the last cohort of the 3k/year system never fails to give me a brief taste of that "last chopper out of Saigon" feeling boomers and, to an extent, Gen Xers have been getting for most of the past fifteen years or so
Student loan repayment thresholds frozen for a further three years.

More debt burden falling on graduates.

And even more reason to cut university places by 20-30%.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

As long as the kidnappers are bent coppers then I'm probably going to be okay!

Oh FFS, not content with putting more political news coverage on 6Music, now the BBC is playing trailers on there for gobshite vox pops on 5Live. The BBC news people are the BBC's worst enemy.

We've just been to the pub for a sneaky burger and chips. I think Barney and Mabel are annoyed that we went without them.

This was the sight that greeted us on our return.

Woohoo, my eBay bargain has arrived. New stereo for my office. Not bad for £25 + £6 postage.

This does almost everything - plays tapes, CDs, MP3 CDs , audio on USB and SD cards! And it has DAB.

I’m not a great political analyst, but I do feel Labour have made a tactical error by opting to be cunts.

Labour HQ right now "It didn't work for them, but it might just work for us!"
“Polls suggest the most probable result is a loss for the party’s candidate, a former government minister understood to have been handpicked by the PM.

“Among the reasons cited by analysts are frustration with Frederiksen’s hardline policies on issues such as integration and immigration.”

Here the Justin Trudeau to Mark Carney transition for the Liberals in Canada is a warning to anyone declaring Labour already dead. A party ruthless enough to chuck out a blunderingly unpopular leader with a replacement that has better policy and politics instincts can rapidly turn things around.
