This was taken at 400 mm on micro 4/3, so 800 mm full frame equivalent.

Not even surprised.

Let's hope not. 🤞

You'd like to think so but I remain to be convinced.

Fingers crossed. (Shouldn't need to but, y'now.)

Desktop is an HP Z400 with 6c/12t Xeon and 12gb RAM (weird triple channel workstation memory) from about 2010, although it now rocks an additional 2tb SSD and an AMD RX 6650 XT GPU. Bought a new laptop this year, all AMD, which, I think, came with Win 11 but not for long. Both on ZorinOS.

I've been using Linux full time for years, but I take the opposite approach, sticking largely to AMD or with old hardware where support has been sorted long since.

I'm speechless, quite honestly. The critters must have clogs on where you're going, to justify the sort of preparations you're talking about. One thing I will say is that you want to be sure that the mesh size of them suits is small enough to keep them out. Mozzies will probably be ok but

It was a very long time ago - maybe 70s or 80s, on 'Nationwide' or perhaps 'That's Life'. I don't remember the exact details, but there's a bit of reading at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEET

As far as I recall it's toxic to more than just bugs, dangerously so. There was a thing on telly donkey's years ago.
