Many people don't understand how generative AI models are basically like a massive database of numbers that are incredibly difficult to deduce because they're the result of machine learning, and making AI do/not do something is more of a polite suggestion than a hard-coded feature.

Untold numbers of people are going to give themselves generative AI-induced psychosis from talking to fancy auto-complete thinking they're talking to a conscious entity.
No, ChatGPT is not conscious. Are the journalists who keep writing these fucking articles?

This must be more of that campaign to make america healthy I keep hearing about.
The EPA has approved a new pesticide that contains PFAS, or 'forever chemicals', to be used on vegetables like lettuce, broccoli and potatoes.

People often argue about whether billionaires are good people and the truth is I think capitalism self-selects for the shittiest people to rise to the top because so many people would do wonderful things to make the world a better place if they had the money, but our system does not select for them.
If I had Elon Musk's money I would become a light and tree evangelist. All my resources would be spent educating people on better lighting and making it happen in public spaces and planting fucking trees everywhere and creating trusts for arborists to maintain them

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

They're not great movies but they're great action schlock.
All right, speaking of zombies from a few days ago... Time to share a guilty pleasure of mine.

Resident Evil, the movies.

Based on the hit game, this franchise follows Alice as she fights back against the evil Umbrella corp. while the apocalypse unfolds around them.

Who else loves these?

Windows is such a broken bloated piece of shit now that Microsoft are looking at preloading the file explorer into system ram so it opens faster because that's how bad window's file explorer is now.

Rather than, y'know, actually fixing the performance issue.

Microsoft has announced that it's testing a change to File Explorer that's designed to make it launch faster, by preloading it in the background.

As funny as it is seeing Grok say Elon is the best shit eater and piss drinker it takes a deeply pathetic and insecure person to instruct an AI to tell everyone you're the greatest person in the world. What an embarrassing human being.
Hilarious things are happening with Elon's latest attempt to lobotomise Grok.

LLMs are going to be susceptible to attacks we cannot even imagine.

Good thing there isn't a company aggressively pushing for this tech to take control of the operating system.
Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..."

I say it often, but this AI shit is the most obnoxious thing I think I have ever encountered in tech. They are trying to put this bullshit into everything, and so often it results in shit like this. I'm so fucking tired of it. I'm so fucking tired of generative AI and the users, investors, all of it

I think it's clear at this point that Microsoft's aggressive AI push is putting Windows security at risk because they've got so much money invested in this garbage that they're desperate to see it adopted.
