Put simply, this shouldn’t even be a race at all. The Dem here, a state rep from Nashville, is a no-holds-barred progressive—making this all the more remarkable.

It was pushed into Nashville in 2022, but that only made it slightly less red. Trump won it by over 20 points in 2024. Marsha Blackburn once held this seat.

Some context—the GOP has held this seat and its predecessors since 1972, and the Democrats have only put up a serious candidate three times since then, the last one in 1996. They haven’t been north of 40 percent since 1982.

We’ve seen a number of cases where the victims are too traumatized for a trial, resulting in the assailants getting sentences that barely qualify as phrases. To my mind, there isn’t another way other than mandatory minimums to make sure victims have a chance to heal.

And now it may result in a disturbed women who committed fraud to have more children getting away with it because the judge and prosecutors took shortcuts to right a terrible wrong.

It results in cops who turn bridges into shooting galleries getting reduced sentences because prosecutors engaged in witness intimidation and jury tampering. It results in rapists walking free because prosecutors relied too much on compelled testimony.

Karoline Leavitt says Trump was being frank with that reporter. Editing out and changing transcripts isn’t exactly frank.

But it looks like she may get away with it because the judge and prosecutors allowed their justifiable outrage at Lewis’ behavior to take shortcuts.
