'River at Sandvikselven,' (c1890) is a good example of Harriet Backer's summer landscapes, which show the glory of the Norwegian countryside. At this point in her career, Harriet had established herself as a successful artist and had opened a painting school in Kristiania (Oslo)

'My First Studio.' (1928) Luigi Lucioni's painting style spared him from the contentiousness of Modernist circles; while he respected the artistic trends of the period he looked beyond what was in-vogue in favour of technical skill.

If I am going for festive drinks/posh dinner/to the theatre/to a nice pub/for afternoon tea I wear the same smart black trousers I've had ten years and a well-ironed shirt, either turquoise or fuchsia pink.

I cannot imagine buying new clothes to go for a drink.

Reading letters from the Princess Liselotte of Palantine, the German sister-in-law of Louis XIV, and it's wild because she had this super informal writing style that almost sounds like modern texts

Like at one point she goes "wish to god my son didn't love holding chunks of bread like a peasant"

Had one of those mornings where you don’t fancy porridge 🥣 for breakfast but it takes you half an hour to get to the point of going to the Spar for 🥐🥐. Anyway, I did and am now replete.

When I was about five I asked my mother how you knew if a dog was a boy or a girl. She told me that you could tell by looking at their faces. Girl dogs looked like girls and boy dogs looked like boys.

I’m not going to attempt to unpick this and no, I didn’t believe her.
I know this sounds ridiculous, but up until the age of 15 I thought all cats were female and all dogs were male. Openly shared this knowledge with a school friend who then went on to make sure everyone in school knew, including my teachers.

On the heel flap of my sock (second pair). It looks nothing like the heel flap on my first two socks, which were (after some trial and error) the same as one another. I suspect I'm following a different version of the same pattern and *may* have misread it BUT I'M NOT UNPICKING ANYTHING. #knitting

#DesperateHousewives has gone down the pan. I'm on season 6 and suddenly realised nobody has a normal relationship, people losing their memory/becoming temporarily disabled in car or other accidents is on repeat, the new person on the street is always a psychopath. Had enough. Bye bye Disney+.
