When I felt at crisis about my country from circa 2016-circa 2022 I listened to “American Tune” by Paul Simon. I still love it with all of my heart. But these days in the same state of mind I listen to “Til We Reach That Day”.

Which, you know, “consistent RE NARCOTRAFFICKING” really should have been a tell that I was looking for rationales about _an approach to narcotrafficking,_ not other things, but whatever.

Omg, you guys, “it’s consistent because corruption” and “it’s consistent because last person he talked to” are NOT CONSISTENCIES. They are explanations. They are not about CONSISTENCY.

November 29, 2025 at 1:04 AM
NB: I find “bribing” to be an overly strong term for what the article actually shows, but “urging” seems consistent.

I mean, for me this is fundamentally about the enemy without erasing the need for the enemy within, right? You can most fully buy into the state as the set of brethren when you’re fighting somebody else.

+I wasn’t wrong, but I failed to understand how much adopting a certain descriptive view of the world creates a permission structure to engage in behavior that would be considered unethical under some prescriptive frameworks.

It takes a lot of work to fight that!!
