I did a *really* silly thing last week with the brilliant Orchestra Victoria, and premiered my newest work, Untitled Concerto for Orchestra and Honk, with myself as the soloist. Thanks to everyone who came along.

Anyway it’s actually the first time I have heard an orchestra play something I wrote and I’m pinching myself that it actually all works. Cannot thank Orchestra Victoria enough for making it all happen. There are some tix still available if you’re in Melbourne Thurs or Fri

In this year’s Classic 100, vote for your favourite piano pieces. You have until just the end of the weekend to do so.

You can actually vote for my music for Untitled Goose Game, which I was not fat-headed enough to do but would be chuffed if you might consider it yourself classic100.abc.net.au

One of the biggest surprises for me in the final arc of Andor was this. Between Bissell’s writing, Kieron Gillen’s comics, and of course Charlie Brooker, the pantheon of former videogame critics is not shabby.

Star Wars has become one of the most pervasive pop culture languages we have for people to talk about politics. It’s something Andor leans into particularly but it is also one of the fundamental appeals of the franchise: taking earthly politics and mythologising them.

Deserved win for Best Original Score for The Brutalist. A remarkable moment in the score is the intermission, which is a fifteen-minute recording of pianist John Tilbury sitting at the piano and figuring out the theme for the character of Erzsébet - artistic creation, documented in music.

Super fun to be at the ICC in Sydney tonight hosting our Art of the Score concert of the music of Hans Zimmer with the SSO. There’s a surprise in tonight’s programme that is an Australian premiere, too.

This list is… interesting to say the least. The Nine Inch Nails boys have done well at the Oscars but to not have Challengers here is silly.

Going by the often successful principle that the winner will be the one most likely to annoy film score fans there’s a pretty clear favourite here I think.
