Future scientists, it's more critical than ever that you double down and refuse to be turned away. The mess we're in now came from a bunch of science illiterates gaining too much power. The only way to stop it is to reduce scientific illiteracy. That will REQUIRE more scientists.

My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”

What's it called when you go out, do a new thing, love it, buy all of the stuff needed to do the thing at home so that you can do it whenever you want in comfort and then never do the thing again because it takes too long to set up / put away and why pay for it when you are out next time?
