No, 'tantalising evidence' of smallpox is NOT embedded in the turquoise mask. No expert on the programme says so. It is absolute bollocks (unlike the rest of the programme which, whatever you may make of the artistic choices, largely holds up as history, albeit selective as any single hour must be).
With respect to Anthony Gormley, absolutely nothing he's saying is historically accurate. In particular (spoiler), the turquoise skull mask categorically does not show smallpox lesions. In my view, it most likely represents Nanahuatzin, the leprous creator god who became the sun. #BBCCivilisations

Posted this seven months ago. Now that trans women are being excluded from girl guides, WI, labour party women's meetings: I'd be interested in what people (with different views) were posting / expecting / wanting before EHRC and before SC ruling. My feeling is that this is quite far beyond that.
It does seem recent EHRC guidance goes beyond what even people supporting SC ruling wanted or expected. Worth looking now at (positive) responses to SC ruling - seems many expected would be about refuges / prisons (/ panels) not policing loos; would mean places *could* exclude, but not *obliged* to.

I think fundamentally the "women's safety" aspect has been superseded by "they're not women" absolutism, such that anything that treats trans women as women - or indeed as anything other than men - is regarded as surrender to lies. So this is where it is now - scorched earth.
