Tomorrow is looking to be wet, cold and rainy. Make sure to wear comfortable warm layers and bring rain gear, toss some extra hand warmers in your pockets so you can hand them out to folks if they look cold. Take your meds, WEAR A MASK, bring some water, bring some snacks and take a buddy.

We need to be better at trying to get people with head injuries from being shot to leave the protest for medical treatment. It is already hard to make sound decisions after a few rounds of tear gas add a concussion, and it's worse. I did not follow that advice in 2020. I regret it.

We will be restarting our regular bleeding control virtual trainings soon. atm we don't offer the street medic 20hr as that's beyond our capacity. We don't offer virtual narcan trainings but they can be easy to find in your local area, in Syracuse look for trainings from the prevention network.

Don't use milk or LAW for pepper spray exposure. Flush with a large volume of water.
Milk contains bacteria and is a great way to introduce an eye infection.
LAW turns into an abrasive crust. Also, having a bright white face makes people easily identifiable.

Tear gas differs from oil-based pepper spray because it's an aerosolized powder. To address tear gas:
1.) prevention is key, wear a gas mask
2.) get out of the cloud and upwind
3.) brush and shake off all powder FIRST
4.) flush eyes with water
5.) cold shower at home
6.) emotional support
