Of the 1985 western opuses, I think I slightly prefer Lonesome Dove over Blood Meridian, but it reminded more of Suttree, which I prefer over both.
LD and BM are doing pretty different things so the comparison seems needless beyond year published and genre.

Sci-Fi isn’t really my preferred genre, outside of books I adore like Dune or Hyperion. Much like Project Hail Mary, this book reads like a science teacher telling me a cool story but focusing too much on explaining everything.
