The thread covers some of this but not enough.
What it misses is that Jeffries is busy coming up with slogans while he is telling his members not to take action.
The problem is the lack of action. And keeping busy with slogans now is an error.

The problem with that slogan right now, however, is that it reads as tone deaf while everything is collapsing around us and those in charge are looting, cheating, and destroying everything. I'm no political strategist, but it feels like messaging should reflect that first.

I think, too, there is this general sentimentality in American culture which both contradicts consumerism and acts as a way to cope with it. It is very contrived.
We feel like we need to feel something very important each holiday, or else the dead soldiers or Jesus or whoever else will be sad.

I’m from the US. For many of us, native-born and not, American holidays feel cold and hollow, with the generalized atomization/alienation from community in our society, the hard-to-ignore religious hypocrisy (darkening Christmas and Easter), and the over-commercialization.

Worth noting that "I don't care, I'll keep stealing from them", is this asshole's reaction to authors discussing poverty and burnout due to relentless theft of their IP, which often takes them months of work to produce and may translate to pennies' income per day of labor.
