So real. The number of times the kids have come home to ask what we did for supper, and I have to tell them I had soup and Dad just ate cheese and crackers...

After 20+ years of doing the Hallmark family holiday all by myself (instead of with a horde of women who are also contributing a dish), I'm glad for the break.

We did, and it was amazing. We order in sushi on the day every year now, and I'm never going back. I make the traditional dishes throughout December anyway, so we're not missing anything.

I’ll settle for any word, in any language. It’s a horrible feeling.
