I have a family member who uses it as a shield. Everything illegal is inherently wrong, even if it's for good apparently. Exceptions are when "patriots" do things though.

It feels like it's just an easy way to avoid both responsibility and accountability, and also justify inaction.

Couple of things. The folk that own it have been burning down their other communities, and this is basically the last thing they have left while they're in a massive amount of debt. Its death looks inevitable.
