Old enough to know better at the ends of the earth (New Zealand). I am large and contain multitudes, all of them intensely irritating. (Same-sex) married. Catholic. Conservative-ish. Cis-male. Jane Austen cultist.
I also wonder if, despite all efforts to pretend the Covid pandemic wasn't real and if it was it was exaggerates by woke alarmists, a critical mass of people remember a virus that didn't care about your feelings. Or your credit score. Or how popular you were on social media.

I wish I knew so I could make sure it never happened again. But it really is so on-brand for out cultural moment that three men took that material and turned it into a smirking load of faux-subversive camp that didn't even have the courage of its nastiness.

That's an interesting read... but if I think OF EWS as a Christmas movie I think of it as more of a collective catharsis where your frustrating and exhausting holiday season is nothing compared to a really horny Tom Cruise failing to get his high bourgeois patriarchal spite itch scratched.

If my memory serves, one reason it took so bloody long to get an Ikea here is that corporate has a very long and detailed check list for store sites - including access to public transport. 350m from a train/bus station is ideal.
