I bought my first house a couple years ago. A block over there’s a pair of little old houses that have clearly been boarded up a long time. Each looks like it’s on 1.5 lots, which means that the two houses could be 9 units of housing under current zoning rules.

The aspis was a pretty heavy shield, so its center of mass being closer to the elbow would tend to stabilize the users grip on it. It would be less tiring to hold up and bear blows better, no? Even setting aside the phalanx-of-it-all?
