Thieves and Robbers (1983) pairs Bud Spencer with Tomas Milian. And if you like Milian’s character work, this is a must. He’s so funny as Tony Roma. Directed by Sergio’s brother, Bruno Corbucci.

Kicking off the Bud & Terence season with a personal favorite: Go For It (1983). Enzo Barboni’s spoof of secret agent/spy films. Each scene is a set piece where the characters get out of a jam by luck. Italian title translates as Born with a Shirt. Born lucky in other words.

Stand over the men you shot dead and whisper ‘requiescant in pace’ and you get a badass nickname. Great western from Lizzani with a leftist message.

Two Mules of Sister Sara is the first western I remember seeing. Watching with my grandpa. Eastwood marathon on that night, so I then watched Hang ’em High in the dark living room while everyone slept. Something chemical shifted in my brain that night 🤣

Have to deal with lots of family the rest of the week, so I’m reading comfort characters and having a drink today. This is the second of 6 books in the series. The first gives Ben’s backstory.

Rewatched Archer of Fire (1971) with Giuliano Gemma taking on the role of Robin Hood. The copy on Tubi is beautiful. Much better print than what I’ve seen previously.

Getting into these Italian medieval movies. Cool subgenre. Watched Attack of the Normans (1962) with Cameron Mitchell. He was in Bava’s Viking movies as well.

First of two lectures on Philip II today, 1180 through the 3rd Crusade. One of my favorite eras of French history to talk about.
