Spent the evening making it pretty. Even got the topper on thanks to the tallest member of the household @nathanielpiha.bsky.social

We put up the seasonal cat attractor today. I thinks it’s appreciated by everyone in the house except possibly the lizard (he lives in the other room).

When rehousing specimens from old mitigation projects it’s not uncommon for field notes to be found in the boxes written on all sorts of things. Napkins, snack bags, the edges of geologic maps, etc. But these were still a surprise.

Took a break this morning to relax and finish this very pretty book.

I probably should have done this yesterday, huh?

So @nathanielpiha.bsky.social suggested we frame some of the @eccomics.bsky.social @oni-press.bsky.social BLOOD TYPE covers. Great idea! They are all beautiful but we did a set of the gorgeous @patriciamartinn.bsky.social alternates and just look how nice they look together 🩸

I was out of town on the 4th anniversary of our 1st date so we are belatedly dressed up and out on the town.

Experiencing a new-to-me museum with my Death Cafe group this morning. I love their logo.

I’m afraid we actually adopted a gremlin, not a cat.

Which is not to say there’s no drama. I find this page to be highly accurate, for instance.

These books are such a joy. It feels good to occasionally spend some time in a gentle way, like reading about someone discovering how much their cat enjoys Churus.

I enjoyed this one a lot (and it worked well as an audiobook). I liked the first in the series okay too but this was much more my type of thing because I too would like to befriend a giant war corvid. No, really, where is my giant war corvid?

Hey, I wrote some prose and it’s included in here with lots of talented folks! It’s still dark and includes creatures and fallible humans though, so maybe not such a departure after all. a.co/d/2NluWRX

Thank you to @loutambone.bsky.social for shepherding this very special project!

Went to a picnic in a cemetery and was bitten by this Goth duck when I wouldn’t give them any of this cake.

Had a wonderful time signing at the Revenge Of Block Party today. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, especially @amydesuza.bsky.social who always had the very best book recommendations!

Following the election numbers, drinking coffee, watched over by the ceramic gecko @nathanielpiha.bsky.social gifted me when I got home from work. At least for tonight things are going okay.

Had the privilege of being at a SoCal Parrot release yesterday. These guys couldn’t wait to get home.

Once again Charlotte insists on being the most visible part of any show.

I like how working in collections sometimes means sifting through reams of accompanying reports and sometimes means uncovering a single handwritten note saying “mystery tubes.”

I thought the cats were supposed to revert to normal in November. Did I do something wrong while casting the spell?
