Lunch before the interview - talking poetry, the tree, and how wonderful those ⁦‪Poetry Society‬⁩ people are. Only had 4 hrs sleep last night. Don’t judge me. @poetrysociety.org.uk

I’ve had a number of people asking to see the whole poem, as there have only been snippets on radio and tv, so here it is, without its light box glory. If you are very, very bored this afternoon, I’m scheduled to be on BBC London at 3.10pm, for an interview.

Think the parents are more impressed than the kids, that Alice Bhandhukravi interviewed their children! The kids are most impressed by the gooey treats they’re getting!

These children are going to be fabulous! @poetrysociety.org.uk

A.I.M. High day today. I love that children from a number of schools will have time and space to write. Thank you @authorsabroad.bsky.social

Rainy evening, but there’s a charming church outside my B&B window.

I was hugely honoured when this commission appeared in my inbox! Thank you, @poetrysociety, for trusting me to write this very special poem. 😊

I believe it’s good to stretch avid readers, but it’s even more important to ensure that ALL children leave school as readers. Every adult should have fond memories of books they discovered at school.

Gus is on the pause setting.

This is next on my tbr pile. I totally agree with Emma Carroll, an exceptional writer. Julia Green is easily one of my favourite authors.

Children and staff at a school I’ve visited a couple of times this term, won’t be in school tomorrow. They’ve all been given a Wellness Day, to relax in any way they choose.

You will always find excellent advice in school staff rooms.

Up in the eaves in this B&B! But it has a certain charm.

I love trees. You know where you are with trees. It’s #nationaltreeweek so, I had to come on to say, ‘Hooray for trees!’

Oh, if ever a joke was meant for social media . . .

Thank you @joshuaseigal.bsky.social for highlighting this story. I included a wildcat poem in a 2005 collection. I did wonder if it was now an extinct poem.

There’s one drawback to reading in the bath (apart from the occasional book dunking); if the book is good the water gets cold, then getting out is chilly. I am currently living this experience.

It’s Friday, so I’d like to wish you all a very happy Saturday lie-in.

It’s a privilege to share touching moments with people in workshops Today, a 9yr old read aloud a poem recounting the day his parents told him they were divorcing. At the end of the day, a teacher showed me an otter poem he’d written, because he knew it was my kind of subject.

I’m a sucker for these old school buildings. Today’s office is in the eaves.

Last day of workshops in London, for Project Christmas Tree! Next time I’m here I’ll be rehearsing the children ready for the 2025 Lighting Up Ceremony. The years keep racing by! 🎄
