I highly recommend reading the short story it is based on, Ted Chiang’s “The Story of Your Life” Knowing the movie’s plot does not prevent enjoying it one jot. A masterpiece.

He seems like a player’s coach. I’m not seeing reports of alienation, and they play hard. It’s just a matter of everything being just *off* enough to cause a collapse of their previous imperious. Underrated how much collective psychology matters.
