“I don’t welcome people who want to work solo or be a star. My team and I will not tolerate backbiting, second-guessing inappropriately, or drama. These are counterproductive to the mission.”

View on my last visit to Sherrod’s Senate office in Washington. So much change was coming for our country. But I heard our grandchildren’s laughter nearby and felt the hope in that. Life is never one thing.

We are in this together, friends & kind strangers. Knowing that gives me so much strength.

My photo file informs me that this is a picture of our backyard on April 21, 2021. A reminder, perhaps, that every year is unpredictable, but it is also full of wonder.

On this first day of 2025, what is on your mind?

Before every grandchild’s departure, we herd our dogs out to the backyard. To protect Walter, as he always wants to dash out the door after them and has no sense of street safety. Yesterday, after countless snuggles, Carolyn said a final goodbye to the boy who couldn’t believe she was leaving him.
