he falls for Wolfgang but would never let himself have them. for long months, they both realize what they feel for each other, and Bastien sees how frustrating it is for Wolf that he won’t act on his desires. at the same time he will not outright reject them either.

Bastien feels he can’t leave, that he would be ungrateful. even if Matteo doesn't really see him for the person he has become. even if he doesn't feel loved in a way he understands. even if it feels like drowning.

luckily(?) for him, Wolfgang wanted to meet him again - to sincerely apologize for the whole leaving a scar on his face incident - and more importantly to offer him connections to suppliers and a way to let other androids know about the clinic.

Bastien notices their shoulder brushing against his own as Wolfgang says "That's where I can help, if you would like"

around this time is when Bastien’s path first crossed with Wolfgang. well, technically he nearly tripped over their dying body. his instict was to try and help, theirs was to cut his face. he managed to apply at least basic treatment to their wounds and more crucially he never told the cops #occhat

he was already sort of seeing Matteo - cis gay heir of a wealthy family -at this point, but their relationship got a lot more serious. Matteo became a lifeline to him, providing emotional and financial support, letting him move into his apartment, even getting Bastien a job
