And 100% I believe trans people should have organized community self-defense from within. I can't stress enough how absolutely vital this is. This enables other, nonviolent forms of political action and is a vital necessity, full stop. It is not omnipotent, but it is 100% necessary.

It would be well if all we had to do was assert that people ought to just be normal about us, but there are material elements to transition, sometimes in the sense of being tangible, other times literally material in the form of, say, HRT and physical changes. These will not defend themselves.

A good indicator for where there are material consequences is to look for the areas in which trans people are punished for being trans. Areas like sports and safe bathrooms are hot-button topics, but consider access to employment, healthcare, parental rights, even things like access to clothing.

As a rule of thumb, we should start with the worst nightmares of conservatives as a baseline, & we should always ask for the maximum, every time. As a for-instance, if, say, some OU grifter tries to get me fired by complaining she couldn't call me a tranny, we should expect her to be fully expelled.

I believe that under the circumstances, trans visibility and pro-trans positions should in fact be shoved down your throat and everyone else's, backed by material power, with or without permission from a state entity. I believe your proverbial TV should run 24/7 and dumped entirely if it turns off.

When both of us say "should," we are advocating for specific policy positions which cannot coexist. They are zero sum. These policy positions have nothing whatsoever to do with whatever hogshit line about gametes or chromosomes you want to impose. They are a matter of power and force.

There are many metrics by which we may judge successes in the matter of our treatment in society. None of them have anything to do with crafting a beautiful and moving argument. If someone pursues the same policy you do due to faulty reasoning, that is immaterial to your shared goal.
