hard pretzels are not food, they are disbursement mechanisms for little knives in your mouth
Google survived those cases because (a) it actually offered an opt out, (b) the user made the request (not applicable to training), and (c) I think it had a much stronger fair use argument (competitive factors for AI + fundamentally different use case for Google). Not apples to apples.

“Fair compromise” here doesn’t make that much sense in the front or the back.

“Compromise” where model devs get to use your IP and you have to foot enforcement efforts and costs only sounds like one side is compromising.

And “fair”, well, what’s fair about not getting paid for your work?

Damn I forgot the “hey I personally stole your stuff but don’t worry, I made a process for you to have to do more work to stop me from doing that” part of law school

I think we are in the process of more publicly establishing that inference costs for established models are really freaking high

Tbh I don’t really care if the car guys find it annoying. I am open to strategizing the best approach to reach people - but at the end of the day they and AI guys are working on bad machines that hurt people on a global scale, and I think they needed to be confronted with that on a moral level

Do you find stealing the work of others a humanizing experience?

I mean you seem to be arguing that “something that required training, other people’s IP, a large amount of water and slaves to make” isn’t particularly wasteful if you only count using it after it was already made

Gommage AI 🤮

“Get in the way” yea it’s decades of alleged abuse and stat rape I don’t think people need to wave a hand and care about his performance

point being you've compared (a) struggle against bad thing with (b) feeling personally annoyed by seeing the same arguments against bad thing, and found (b) more motivating. I think you have that the wrong way around.

you should pick more fights with cars. working to undue the mental pass people give car externalities (deaths, injuries, city design, various types of pollution, social development) is social work that happens when we see a bad thing and let other people know "oh that's bad, here is why, join us"

Ridiculous ejection. Drummond lined up for fisticuffs and he’s walking away scot free?
