Exactly. The only effective interventions are pacing, symptom management and experienced care for the severely ill and that is practically non-existent

The problem is neither they or I understand the complex prognosis for the illness and they will find it difficult to explain that to a severely impacted person. That’s where research comes in and in the UK funding on research is currently running at 60p per sufferer per annum

Doctors don’t react well to things they don’t understand, I have met 1 in 11 years who was open enough to admit I knew more about ME / CFS and it’s impact than he did and used to invite me to speak to student doctors at his practice who hear zilch about it in their studies and/or training

Apart from being slow to react, breaking their own Covid restrictions, partying incessantly, bunging PPE contracts to their mates, sending out conflicting messages, the Eat out to Help Out fiasco etc etc I thought Westminster handled it well. I don’t understand why the biological mechanisms behind PEM aren’t immensely fascinating to researchers as well as being fundamental to understanding ME/CFS. If I overstretch sometimes even just slightly I can crash some 24-72 hours later. Surely that must intrigue medical science 🤷‍♂️
