What do you mean by 11/5?

The highest count of Bewick's I ever had at Martin Mere was 818 on 23/12/1990. Also that day 470 whoopers.

They're definitely warm.

Probably about 18 months. It's only when I walk through water deeper than about 4cm. I end up with damp socks.

I had a similar problem when I first bought mine but 'fixed' it by bending the top over and not had the problem since. I do have other issues with them e.g. they leak.

I'm amazed that you've never seen them there before, I would have thought over 28 years the occasional straggler would put down in Ullapool. Where is the nearest wintering flock?

I think I saw that bird yesterday. I can't see any features of GWT to make it a hybrid. Even the gold border to the green mask looks wrong to me. If you watch closely when it flies the white triangle appears to be on the wing not on its flanks. I think it's partial leucism.

Do you always clean the van with the camera handy? 🤔😆
