Hello newskies! I'm Dan, a game designer currently hailing from the Seattle area. I have lots of schipperkes, ADHD, and many (mostly crafty) hobbies in varying states of hyperfocus or neglect.

Favorite game: Journey
Color: Aqua
Album: Paul Simon - Graceland
Cocktail: Red Hook
Dinosaur: Amargasaurus
Purely by coincidence, just today I promised myself I'd go to the Seattle Indies social next week, which I've been talking myself out of every month for like a year.
How to make friends outside work? Do social activities, and if there aren't any that appeal to you now, create/host them.

Part of the whole reason I run TTRPGs and host boardgame nights is just to get people in the same room.

Still thinking about it and I'm only two levels (chapters? Scenes?) in.

It has some bugs, and I have Game Design Opinions, but I think that's just because flaws seem sharper when the good parts are That Good.

It's That Good.
Ambrosia Sky should cost $25, go play it. It's not perfect, but it *is* good.

"Rain is expected to continue until April."

Alt text: a precinct (I think) map of the Seattle mayor vote. Brown is Katie Wilson: higher density and mid- and lower income areas.

Green is Harrell: downtown, North Queen Anne (skyline view), and waterfront properties facing either the Sound or Lake Washington.
seattle's political geography is as wild as (and presumably at some level is reflective of) its physical geopraphy

@softrains.bsky.social fun bug... On my Xbox Elite V2 controller, I have one of my paddles assigned to SHIFT. I tapped it and the game hard crashed to desktop.

When I loaded my save, it seems to have kept my position but not my cleaning progress, so I spawned inside fungus and 💀

Friendly tip for folks. My discord got hacked yesterday and my computer was acting funky ever since. Turns out it was malware installed through a blender file I bought as part of an asset pack on CG Trader. I didn’t know blender files were being used this way, but I figured I’d spread the word.

And a pinch of spite.

Okay, stubbornness, spite, coffee...

... and the need to crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their people.
You are a one-person studio powered by stubbornness. Keep going. 🖊️⚙️

Another air ball from Embark and Arc Raiders. Definitely sounds like a company that values human creativity.
I haven't found any credit given to voice actors in either of Embark's games. They don't even show what roles different folks had on the game.
