I found myself re-reading a technical book, thinking I wish I had retained more information from it during the first read. I decided to build an iOS shortcut that enables me to quickly create Anki cards while reading.

Here's a write up explaining how I did it.

Creating Anki cards using iOS shortcut
Anki is a modern approach to the classic flash cards. Where it excels is in the use of spaced repitition.

Updating my blog from my mobile device using @obsidian.md is truly a great feeling.

Here I am adding syntax highlighting and pushing the changes to GitHub, triggering a GitHub Action to rebuild and deploy my site.

I explored @agentql.com a bit more and wrote up a quick use case on how to scrape business data from Google Maps:

Wife and I just finished up a ~1300 mile trip through California in our '77 micro keystone. There was a large storm that rolled through the northern half of the state which kept us moving south.

We ended up taking a lot of highway 1, enjoying the scenic way, eventually ending up in Joshua Tree.

Chrome just released their translations api to the public. Time to play around with this local AI model in my browser and see what kind of applications I can think of.

Having a cup of coffee is like flicking the flow switch to the on position. One sip and I'm in. My fingers feel lighter and every problem that comes to my mind is quickly solved and the solution typed out.

My pre-sleep code change had turned my blog into a 500 error factory. So much for easing into Monday – there I was, debugging in my pajamas, coffee still a distant dream. One quick fix later, we're back online.

Note to self: no more bedtime deploys.

If you're like me and do not like reposts, there is a setting for you! You can easily turn off all of the repost spam in your settings → following feed preferences.

It's on the roadmap to enable/disable this per user, but for now, we only have the blanket solution.

I've been locked out of my Twitter/X account for months. According to them, I still have access to the account.

So I guess that's just it, huh. Makes the move here an easier decision!

I tried many of the options and guides discussed online, but after hours of work, only the steps I'm sharing here worked for me.

Has anyone tinkered much with the @bsky.app api? Is it completely open and configurable?

I've been rocking the entire Apple-software-sweet since attending @nsspain.bsky.social last year.

Apple has done a great job connecting their ecosystem.
I’ve been using Safari full time for a week. I’m not switching back.

Here’s my experience so far 🧵
