James Buchanan blew up the Union in defense of slavery and then let his own Secretary of War assist in the lame duck preparations for treason, and Andrew Johnson was a drunken white supremacist who effectively revolted against Congress, and still neither of them were ever so nakedly lawless.
This is the most corrupt, lawless administration in the history of the United States and there’s no close second.

Been watching Guinness; finished it tonight. Something that just occurred to me - Potter (I think that was his name) would not have been valet to both Arthur and Edward and head butler at two houses. Just sayin’

When it gets really cold bluebirds roost together in a pile using collective body heat to help them survive. They arrange themselves so they don’t smother & alternate positions within the pile. Marjorie Taylor Greene was never going to change her stripes.

She’s still a hateful, spiteful racist.

Hegseth is committing actual war crimes, and MTG is calling for the prosecution of Dr Fauci.

Since there’s a bunch of scientists here, what is going on with our backyard? There’s some sort of slime growing in one small section section of the yard, that mostly just has bark in it.

The guy was discussing toxins collecting in chicken/turkey skin and why he won’t eat it. Didn’t say but, dude, you’re almost 70 and you’ve collected a lot worse as a smokejumper and field guy for hazwaste investigations. A small piece of organic turkey skin is the least of your worries. (Mine, too).

Dem Senators and MoCs shouldn’t be voting for DoD authorization spending legislation as long as Hegseth remains in charge of DoD. This should be basic and a position that Dem Leadership should be whipping while loudly speaking out against war crimes/extra judicial killings funded by our tax dollars.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

Hegseth order on first Caribbean boat strike, officials say: Kill them all
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

It is unfathomable that the USG lawyers would sign off on a no-survivors boat strike (no get of jail free card).

There's clear precedent dating back to World War II trial of Germans for that very act, which lawyers know well.

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

A few years back I had a coworker with horses who ALWAYS had horse puckey on his shoes/boots. His former workplace called him the fecal fairy because he left little tidbits of horse turds wherever he went.
At its peak, 100-200k NYC horses, 30 lbs of poop/day each. People would use these boot scrapers, that you can still see everywhere today built into the brownstone wrought iron fences, to scrape, 70%? of the poop off the bottom of their shoes before they went into the house. Horse poop everywhere.

When I came back to the internet yesterday, I thought about how nice it would be to have a president who could make a comforting and strong proclamation of national fellowship.
One other point: Trump is just so fucking exhausting. We can't even have Thanksgiving without him just spewing bile and hate.

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

This reminded me of a conversation I had with a botanist who did field work associated with the then newly found black-footed ferret colony. He noted that the local prairie dogs were beat up, missing ear parts, scarred etc, and realized they are food. Haven’t thought of them as anything else since.
Well fed prairie dogs at the Valles Caldera.

Gunnison's prairie dogs are abundant in the Valles Caldera. They have a complex social structure, with a sophisticated alarm call system, and live in interconnected burrows that have separate areas for sleeping, eating, and waste.

Delightful story. Perfect for this week.
OK - pie discourse - best pie story:

In 2016, we were living in Andover, in the UK. My wife was assigned as an exchange officer at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop (yes, really).*

The US Army has a tradition: senior leaders, in dress uniform, serve junior troops Thanksgiving dinner.
