Britain needs to stop the obscene gravy train to arms companies for an unworkable and immoral nuclear weapons programme and invest the money in public services and infrastructure instead!

Ever since the start of the Manhattan Project in the 1940s, nuclear weapons have remained inexorably linked to civil nuclear reactors.

CND opposes nuclear power both because it is dirty, expensive and unsafe - and because of its direct links to the nuclear weapons industry.

On November 26, the Prime Minister issue a statement making clear that a major reason for the Government's plans for more nuclear power is the technical and logistical support it provides for the government's nuclear weapons programme. Ever since the start of the Manhattan Project back in the 1940s, nuclear weapons have remained inexorably linked to civil nuclear reactors. For example. all the fissile materials for making nuclear weapons come from civil nuclear reactors, their processes and facilities, including uranium mining, milling and fuel manufactuing, and uramium enrichment plants. CND opposes nuclear power both because it is dirty, expensive and unsafe - and also because of its direct links to the nuclear weapons industry. We strongly oppose the Government's plans for more nuclear weapons and more civilian nuclear reactors.

The full route will go from Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly) to Whitehall. The accessible, step-free route will be meeting on Eagle Place (between Piccadilly and Jermyn Street), outside Natwest from 2pm.

Having agreed the assembly point and route of the march on November 10th, now at less than 3 days notice, the police have insisted that we change the form up from Park Lane which they had agreed, to Hyde Park Corner/Piccadilly. They have cited spurious reasons about disruption to businesses without providing any evidence and detail. This is just the latest example of police harassment and imposition faced by the Palestine movement which we can only assume is designed to disrupt our organising. This movement is still under attack. We will continue to resist these attempts to disrupt our organising. We urge everyone who wants peace and justice for the Palestinians and believes in the right to protest to join us at noon this Saturday for another huge display of solidarity. CND General Secretary Sophie Bolt will be speaking at tomorrow's eve of budget protest organised by the @peoplesassembly.bsky.social. The priority in the budget should be investing in public services, not preparing for war and buying new nuclear weapons.
