AFF reader feedback arrived. The positives are strong ("excels at delivering a gripping survial story with high-stakes action and emotional depth") but the negatives, which contain spoilers so I won't share, knock two of my favorite things in the script, so 🤷🏻

In 1959, my Mom was a rodeo queen in Nevada and my grandfather had a friend film some of her on horseback in 1960. I've never these 8mm reels. But I took them to a shop to have them telecined into digital files and should have them back in a couple weeks.

My Halloween season hot take: Shelly Duvall is incredibly underappreciated in The Shining and the movie does not work without her performance. Nicholson gets all the accolades because playing crazy is fun. But Duvall's vulnerability and her escalating confusion and fear hold the thing together.
