Just what my heart needed this weekend. Less Than Jake, Fishbone, & local pride festivities with our community. ❤️🤘🏻🎺🎷 🌈

I'm looking forward to a day when most nuclear policy things I read stop invoking bad parallels in the fashion & design worlds.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Today's reminder to check your registration, #vote often, be ready to troubleshoot. No change in my ID, address, registration etc for several years. I consistently vote. Yet due to a small error the poll workers had to call the Board of Elections to be sure I could vote. Grateful for them doing so 🇺🇸

The #science & #tech base in the United States, and the people who drive it, are some of our most important national security assets. Keeping the National Labs well resourced & driven toward bold visions must remain a top priority. (& thanks to Sandia for an educational display that can be photo'd!)

I'm off work today so I can be a bit political, though part of why I'm on Team @benwikler.bsky.social is b/c we'd be better off if both parties embraced a lot of the things he is fighting for.

Lake Michigan is looking lovely. Nicely birdy for early January. But so little ice even after a few sub-freezing & snowy days in northern IL & southern WI. 🪶

Even when ❤️ is consumed with work & family, at times the soul needs additional tonics. Ending '24 with a much needed account of nature, adventure, bravery, & very cold places. Starting '25 up-skilling on fostering nature in my highly dynamic, beautiful, & at times very cold place.

And moonrise wrap up near Wyandot Wetlands. 36°f, light westward wind. Time for data compiling! Happy Christmas #Bird Count to all who celebrate

Happy counting to all joining a Christmas #Bird Count today! 21°f, nice clear sky at first light here at Sheldon's Marsh on Lake Erie OH. 🪶

Not my best pic of
this lifer beauty. In Seoul
her attitude shines.

I dipped again on
American Dipper. In
Dipper habitat.

But found a fancy
Northern Flicker frolicking
in a snowy stream.🪶

I had a good run, but I'm sad to report that I'm no longer this year's top @Team_eBird-er in Lichtenstein.

Congrats to this fine fellow birder!

Pretty much the coolest gulls. Can't wait to see their new name. 🪶

When you work on nuclear weapons risks & your sibling runs a historical theater, some years your worlds collide a bit. 🎄

Despite all work & no #birding time in Beijing this week, I caught incredible bird motifs everywhere 🕊️

Great #birds in Portugal & an amazing 17 lifers. Richard's pipit, booted eagles & common redshanks among my faves of the trip 🪶

The Culinary Vegetable Institute having an all-vegetarian food truck at the farmers market is next level amazing.

Is leftover homemade vegetable pot pie acceptable for lifer pie?

On 10/25 I had an almost-day off on a work trip. Upon my near-midnight hotel arrival I saw lots of snowy plovers tracked nearby, then dreamed that I found them & they ran up and kissed me on the cheek.

Not quite how it went down, but still an adorable lifer on the 4th bday of my daughter, Snowy.

And who says birding is too competitive these days...
