We're doing exactly that and this deal represents another key milestone on our journey. I want to thank @gmb.org.uk and @unison.org.uk for working so constructively with the council to put right a historic wrong.

When I was appointed as Leader two years ago, I labelled equal pay the single biggest challenge that the council has faced and vowed to deal with the matter once and for all.

I’m proud of Birmingham — a diverse, resilient, and talented city full of energy and determination. Our city will always stand firm against division. This is something opportunists like Robert Jenrick will never understand - & why Birmingham has repeatedly rejected the divisive politics he peddles.

As usual all the Tories want to do is talk Birmingham down. Instead of insulting Brummies, Jenrick should be apologising to us for the damage 14 years of tory government caused to our city.

Whether it’s food, travel, course materials, clothing, digital access, or home essentials, the young people referred by St Basil’s, Birmingham Children’s Trust, Sport 4 Life and @barnardos.org.uk will be given a chance to thrive, not just survive. will be given a chance to thrive, not just survive.

Thanks to Hymans Robertson Foundation, Heart of England Community Foundation, West Midlands Combined Authority, and Money Ready, the Brummie Bursary is set to remove the everyday financial barriers that can hold young people living in Birmingham back.
