CleanCloud Project
@cleancloud-he.bsky.social
#HorizonEU CleanCloud project (Clouds & climate transitioning to post-fossil aerosol regime), to vastly improve understanding of #aerosol-#cloud interactions. Funded by the #EuropeanUnion. projects.au.dk/cleancloud
#MeetOurScientists: The observations Dr Kostas Eleftheriadis and the rest of the CleanCloud-team make from Mt Helmos, are important to monitor long term developments and to decide on effective measures to tackle the #climatecrisis

#MeetOurScientists: With the help of a cloud sampler, Aiden Jönsson is able to investigate the particles inside the clouds. Important to better understand aerosols and their interactions with clouds - and how future climate and weather will impact our lives.

#MeetOurScientists: How can CleanCloud and other Horizon Europe projects make a difference? Through new measurements, improved models and less uncertainty for future climate predictions. Meet Daniel Partridge of @universityofexeter.bsky.social @horizoneu.bsky.social

Knowledge of aerosol-cloud interactions is key to project how climate will change in the future. Meet our scientists: This is Marianne Tronstad Lund @mtlund.bsky.social from CICERO, Norway.

What a a team this is! In CleanCloud @ec.europa.eu we have accomplished things we did not even think possible, and we are well on track to contribute to improved climate models. Project leaders Athanasios Nenes and @ulasim77.bsky.social sum up the first year:

Important climate questions relate to #clouds. In CleanCloud we investigate clouds even in the most remote places, like #Villum in #Greenland. The #Arctic is warming 4 times faster than the average and rapid ice melting has impact on clouds.

In our #chopin campaign at #mthelmos we sample particles from all over the world; pollution, dust, sea salt, forests and more to see the impact they have on #clouds.
