Sure, Trump isn't doing that NOW. But SCOTUS hasn't really ruled against him in a substantial way. It'll eventually happen, and Trump's complete control over the executive means that any judicial order against the executive isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Trump’s use of the pardon power and his administration’s actions in the Caribbean have been monstrously villainous.

But as @gregsargent.bsky.social stresses, they’ve also been dangerously, recklessly uninformed. Trump is often acting on shoddy intel or no intel at all. It’s frankly terrifying.
Note that Trump admits he knows next to nothing about Hernandez's case, even though prosecutors won a conviction after alleging that he helped bring more than 500 tons of cocaine into the United States. Trump pardoned him with zero serious reflection on the impact he had on drug use in our country. This is by Trump's own admission. Then, after Burns asked Trump if this sends "the wrong message to drug dealers," Trump segued into claiming Hernandez was the victim of “weaponized" government, just as Trump himself was. Combine this with Trump's confession that he granted this pardon because people "asked me to do it," and the takeaway is inescapable. He did it as a favor, probably corruptly, or out of his narcissistic association of Hernandez with himself, or a combination of both: His narcissism subjects him to easy manipulation by corrupt actors. Trump has ordered the killings of over 80 people in the Caribbean Sea on the grounds that they are bringing drugs into the United States. His administration hasn't presented serious evidence of this, and indeed, tons of evidence contradicts it in various ways. Yet Trump has designated these alleged drug traffickers as "narco-terrorists" and claims constitutional authority to kill them as combatants in a war. Most legal experts dismiss this as nonsense, noting that he's claiming the authority to summarily execute civilians who are not in fact waging war against the U.S. For Trump to then blithely admit to pardoning someone who trafficked in infinitely more drugs than any of these people he's illegally killing—while not bothering to familiarize himself at all with that man's crimes against our country-should conclusively demolish the idea that any of this is about drugs coming into our homeland. It gets worse. Under questioning, Trump justified his campaign by claiming the bombing of each boat saves 25,000 American lives, which is a brain-dead lie in numerous ways. Trump also told Politico, "We're gonna hit 'em on land very soon, too," seemingly saying straight out that a ground invasion of some sort in Venezuela is coming.

Calmly pick the food up without reacting, or end the meal if the dropping means they’re done. Use a high-chair with a tray so cleanup is easier and the floor temptation is lower.

hey all, they want your transfer credits and financial aid to be dependent on AI data entry. Cool!
Georgia Tech this fall is rolling out an AI tool to review the college transcripts of transfer students, replacing the need for staff to enter each course manually into a database. It will allow the school to inform applicants more quickly how many transfer credits they’ll receive, cutting down on uncertainty and wait times, said Richard Clark, the school’s executive director of enrollment management. “It’s one more layer of delay and stress and inevitable errors. AI is going to kill that, which I’m so excited about,” Clark said. The school hopes to expand the service soon to all high school transcripts. Georgia Tech also is testing out AI tools for other uses, including one that would identify low-income students who are eligible for federal Pell Grants but may not have realized it.

Indulging the fantasy of bipartisan solutions with a political party that has fully submitted itself to authoritarianism. Hoping that the MAGA fever will “break” in time. Counting on the business community to “wake-up” once the economy tanks, or the effects of the tariffs kick in. Refusing to see what is right before our eyes.

We don't have to guess how an at-will public employment system will be used under Trump, because we have a de facto at-will system already in place.
Under that system, here are some of the reasons you can be fired from the federal government:

Being a relative of a disfavored former employee: Maureen Comey, a respected DOJ prosecutor, was fired shortly before Trump demanded her father be prosecuted. Refusing to illegally fire people: Kash Patel is being sued for firing senior FBI agents who asked him for adequate reason to fire their fellow agents. Investigating corruption and abuses of power: For example, ethics officers at Fannie Mae were fired after they raised questions about how Bill Pulte obtained documents as part of his effort to prosecute Trump’s political enemies. Investigating an insurrection or allegations of corruption by the President. Providing an intelligence analysis that contradicts the President’s claims. Being a trans person. An online monitor of the “deep state” accuses you of being disloyal to Trumpism. Such accusations are often erroneous: a prosecutor falsely accused of not willing to be part of the Comey investigation was fired. An FBI agent was fired after being falsely accused of participating in Mar-A-Lago investigations. Sharing accurate information to a judge: A DOJ lawyer was fired when he acknowledged that the administration had erred when it deported an immigrant. Not recommending that a prominent celebrity supporter of the President have his gun rights restored. Signing a public statement that existing policies are undermining the ability of agencies to complete their tasks. No reason at all. The President merely asserts that he has an Article II power to fire you and decides he wants someone assumed to be more loyal in your place.

Unitary executive was created by Republican lawyers — some of who now sit on the Supreme Court — in order to empower Republican Presidents. Cass Sunstein witnessed its creation as a civil servant in the Reagan administration: Let us instead marvel over this: the emergence, starting in the 1980s, of a view that was held with supreme confidence by a group of (mostly) young lawyers, but that was patently inconsistent with settled law — and that is now on the verge of being accepted by the Supreme Court of the United States.
