Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

I have the same attitude on the Monterey Fish-Gioia block of Hopkins. They could have had a bike lane but rejected it, so Imma just ride in the middle of the road.

I dunno. "Casual reader" in these quibbles always means "someone who can't be bothered to read more than a screenshot of the headline on social media." It's the laziest form of media criticism, IMO.
