On this day in 1865, the 13th Amendment was ratified to abolish slavery in the United States. It marked a first step in the long fight for equality for Black Americans. We will never forget the horrors of slavery & must always reject every attempt to erase this shameful chapter of American history.

I have always believed that diversity is about creating opportunity. Secretary Hegseth is the only one in the Pentagon who got his job not based on merit, but by sucking up to his boss.

Congratulations to the South El Monte High School Eagles football team for winning the 2025 CIF Division 14 Championship game. Through teamwork and determination, they claimed the school’s first ever championship in a nail-biting 14-6 win. You have made CA-31 extremely proud.

Today is the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day that memorializes all of the lives lost as a result of violent attacks on the trans community. Today and everyday, it is critical that we work towards a future where nobody has to fear hate and violence for being who they are.
