On this day in 1865, the 13th Amendment was ratified to abolish slavery in the United States. It marked a first step in the long fight for equality for Black Americans. We will never forget the horrors of slavery & must always reject every attempt to erase this shameful chapter of American history.

Congratulations to the South El Monte High School Eagles football team for winning the 2025 CIF Division 14 Championship game. Through teamwork and determination, they claimed the school’s first ever championship in a nail-biting 14-6 win. You have made CA-31 extremely proud.

This season, the South El Monte High School Lady Eagles volleyball team brought home their first-ever CIF-SS Division 9 Championship! These athletes kept training, refused to quit, and pushed themselves all the way to this historic win. Your community is very proud of you.

I am proud to announce I introduced a bipartisan bill with Rep. Pete Sessions that will grant symbolic, honorary posthumous U.S. citizenship to some Filipino noncitizens who served and died in the U.S. military during World War II. (1/2)
