What is Gustav thinking about? Can it be that there will be news about There's Nothing Underground (wishlistnowonsteamthankyou) very, very soon?

Our game is fully dynamic, systemic, based on emergent gameplay and open ended puzzles. Which in practice means you can make silly bridges and glue stuff.

It's called There's Nothing Underground and it's coming out sooner than you think.

In There's Nothing Underground any static element of a level can be made movable with the right tool.

From a Steam review of a 10$ game.

Damn, ICA. Overcooked unseasoned pasta with pale salmon chunks slapped on it and a sprinkle of frozen peas. This is the Italian equivalent of a picture of dry meatballs with a side of stale fries covered with a spoonful of soy sauce. These things do not match!

Ok, got it all out. I am fine now.

Building a makeshift bridge is not enough. It has to be structurally sound. Also, the stupidest the build, the more fun I have.

Another fun thing: when you solve a level accidentally on purpose thanks to physics - in this case an unholy mix of vine, glue and expanding platform

"Swap position with a pillar to collect a gem behind it" is still one of my favorite advanced techniques. Gluing stuff to things with no gravity to make them drop is a close second.

Sometimes in game dev you get a fresh death animation for when the character is not on the ground and you just implement it in 15 minutes and it looks great first try.

For a moment it feels like this stuff is pretty easy

Not the Donkey Kong themed café I expected

At some point while making this game we just had to admit Wile E. Coyote is one of our biggest sources of inspiration

Or just freeze it to make it brittle and destroy it with a laser 🤷

Door too heavy? No prob: use glue to attach a rocket and it will open easy

In the game I am making you can use glue to attach any two objects. Which is great for all sorts of emergent weird solutions, but I am a simple person: I like watching floppy bridges flop.

Honestly one of the most satisfying interactions in my game

A "old vs new" comparison. Not bad, uh?

New trailer for the game I - and a small team of awesome people - have been working on. It's a roguelike puzzle game in which you can solve levels in any way you can think of, using random tools. It's a lot of fun.

Hype!

And also, you can use bubbles as temporary platforms, if you're careful enough
March 17, 2025 at 5:47 PM
I like Bubble Bobble so in my game you can shoot bubbles and they engulf stuff. But also they pop if you shoot stuff at them

Luca Marinelli as Solid Snake? I mean, he managed to look believable as Mussolini, he can do Snake

The game I am working on, There's Nothing Underground, is participating to Steam Next Fest. If you like weird roguelike puzzle physics-y adventure games try the demo! People who did seemed to like it! They laughed when they lost, they celebrated when they won! store.steampowered.com/app/3223370/...

You know what's a fun activity for a Saturday night? A level design pass on half of the levels in my game 💀
