The court ruled that “Without a biomechanical study supporting SBS/AHT, it remains a hypothesis without "uniform and reasonably reliable results" from which to ascertain the truth.” 🧵

-Tremane’s trial counsel was inadequate and did not put on any evidence for his defense. The entire trial lasted 6 days.

Taking a plea deal for something they didn’t do can mean going home now with reduced charges or less time in jail than the time it would take to go to trial. 3/3

This is particularly problematic because we know innocent people are regularly coerced into plea deals to end their case. People often wait over a year to go to trial. Many people can’t afford bail and are forced to stay in jail, which can lead to job, housing, and child loss. 2/3
