Getting my power stations mixed up - should have known better, my son spent some time studying on Cumbrae!
Good moth, all the same. Much rarer in the east.

And The Kinks, come to that. Used to live in Muswell Hill. Often saw Ray Davies around Crouch End.

I used to spend a lot of time looking at these graphs - somehow lost my enthusiasm. Must try harder while I've still got it in me!

Definitely feels ominous - clear changes in moth numbers/distribution too?

My mistake, just looking at basic report rate graphs!
One thing I quickly learned working on the Borders Bird Report was how much effort we put into representing favourite areas of a few local birders (my hectad being a prime example!).
In the past year, losses to local birders already show on BT.

Maybe we see lots of recently-arrived or soon-to-depart thrushes because of our location, but plenty of activity in the hedges at the moment.

But BirdTrack is nationwide - and large parts of Scotland are very under-recorded. I am seeing drops in Chaffinch, but Greenfinch have come back strongly. Tree Sparrows are a common day-to-day bird - often BirdTrack report-rate graphs are very different to our reality.
Near to 7K on BT this year.

Plenty up north - but very few Blackcaps.
