I like the idea! But it's more likely that one will hit me in the face rather than landing face up 😂

THE BLACKTONGUE THIEF - CHRISTOPHER BUEHLMAN

A masterclass in character voice and immersive writing, I defy you to not be wholly transported to this grimy, gritty, strange, magical, off-kilter fantasy land when you read this book. Full of humour yet very brutal, this is great from page one!

Buying this on payday! The Silverblood Promise was so good! Glad you enjoyed this one too!

BLOOD OVER BRIGHT HAVEN - M. L. WANG

Classism, systematic oppression, racism, sexism, environmentalism, capitalism, & magical typewriters. There is no social subject that this book doesn't tackle with depth, aplomb, & nuance. Every scene matters, creating a thematically rich narrative. Incredible!

Happy Monday, Beard Man!

I'm reading Blood Over Bright Haven by M. L. Wang, and so far, roughly 100 pages in, it's brilliant! It's the first (largely) fantasy book I've read since I believe February, not counting the 40K & Sci-Fi stuff I've read in-between, and I'm excited to be back in this genre!

BAT EATER - KYLIE LEE BAKER

Who would have guessed that a book about a crime scene cleaner who is haunted by the ghost of her sister who was violently murdered right in front of her eyes would have been so gory?! Gripping, rage-inducing, disturbing; Bat Eater is an important horror read!

SOUL HUNTER - AARON DEMBSKI-BOWDEN

Reading about Space Marines who aren't staunchly FOR THE EMPEROR! was a breath of fresh air, but also just a genuinely interesting cast of damaged characters to follow. Should be required grimdark sci-fi reading for all SFF fans, not just 40K lovers!
