I am far more interested in what I don't know than what I do know.
Here.

This is what measles looks like:

This is why we can't have nice things.

"So... what is the market is going to do?"
December 2, 2025 at 5:13 AM
I don't know what the Democrats have planned for Project 2029, but it bloody well better include codifying all of the laws and norms that the Trump administration violated with specific enforcement and penalties for each.
December 2, 2025 at 5:08 AM
Then why do I feel like we share one?
December 2, 2025 at 5:06 AM
So... who is supposed to oversee these disclosures and who is supposed to enforce this law?

Oh, right. No one.

The same no one who has the duty to enforce the Hatch Act, for example.

When you review the laws that regulate government officials at all levels - federal, state, and local - you will find that a large number of these laws do not provide any consequences for violating them and very few have any means of enforcement.

This is not an oversight.

I'm not concerned about journalists who are villains in works of fiction for pursuing stories they shouldn't.

I am concerned about lazy, cowardly, biased, or access dependent journalists in real life who fail to pursue stories that need to be exposed.

This is some of the laziest writing I have ever had the misfortune of reading.
December 1, 2025 at 3:45 PM
This response is remarkably fact-based, on topic, and free of the animosity in the student essay. I cannot imagine how it could have been better written.

The restraint and clarity shown here is faultless.

The Trump administration isn't concerned about what is right, or what is legal, or even what they can get away with. They just do whatever they want so long as they can do it before anyone can stop them.

The less your work is actually work, the more you can delegate it to AI.

Don't ask him. He's completely demented.

Just as a reminder, President Trump never released a full, verbatim transcript of that phone call. All we ever got was a summary prepared by the White House.

And when President Trump says it was "perfect" he means that he clearly communicated extortion without having to do it overtly.

Of course we're messed up; we are living in ways contrary to our evolution. It started with agriculture.

But there are steps we can take to moderate the harm.

1. Spend time in nature.
2. Don't overeat.
3. Be mindful of the humanity of others.
4. Find your tribe and make a place for yourself in it.

Don't forget.

The pardon not only cancels the prison sentence, it also cancels any required restitution to the victims of the fraud.
December 1, 2025 at 5:48 AM
The strong floor they want: "Are there no workhouses?" "Are there no prisons?"
December 1, 2025 at 3:53 AM
Of course not.

1. He has no authority to impose tariffs.
2. Tariffs are a regressive tax.
3. If tariffs worked, they would produce diminishing revenue.
4. We cannot collect anything like the revenue from income taxes with tariffs unless they were absurdly high.

Donald Trump is a fool if he's going to pick a fight with Mark Kelly.

He should go after easier targets. He's not ready for Senator Kelly.
December 1, 2025 at 3:44 AM
Donald Trump and his administration have discovered that the actions of government officials is largely unregulated.

There may be rules, or laws, or norms, but few of them carry any enforcement or consequences, especially if your team is in power and either doesn't enforce or pardons the guilty.

Because it is a violation of the Geneva Conventions and a war crime to attack the shipwrecked. It is specifically prohibited.
