Then comes along Star Trek VI and they have more money for sets. The consoles are "updated" with push buttons (borrowed from audio mixers, right?). It's certainly darker and features those time displays (which the plot requires). VI has a good bridge but V is my favorite.

The TMP bridge was built in the 1970s! The bridge from Star Trek V is my favorite. It's updated, sleek with the period LCARS interface, and all touchscreen. It's the bridge I mentally referenced as a kid for my LEGO creations.

It cost $250,000 to build the new set. I think that was money well spent. Do you remember the Enterprise-A bridge from the end of IV? It's the TMP/WoK/III bridge set with a white coat of paint and some ground lights. It's perfect for the "wow!" response at the end of IV but not fit for a full movie.
