With my postgraduate and plan 2 loan I’m essentially paying an additional 15% tax for the next 30 years. Every £ I pay is eaten up by the interest. All of my peers and people I lead who have degrees from before I went to uni are paid more in real terms and it’s extremely demoralising.

Wanting radical change is incredibly hard to interpret when thinking the big picture, because it could mean anything from generous welfare reform to having artillery and machine guns mounted on the cliffs of Dover.

I find it ironic that Reform will largely be against the mainstream media in general and yet have been the biggest benefiters of it.

Our first past the post system is going to have a stroke at the next election.

I hate how stupidly hard it’s going to be to get my partner to move in with me. The expense and hoops that already exist are frustrating enough.

We’ve got loads on LCWRA in their 60s but the more awkward ones are those required to look for work without LCW/RA on UC who have to keep attending their work search reviews regularly until running down the clock or somehow finding an employer who will take someone who is a hair away from pension.

Limiting cash ISAs to encourage S&S ISAs really ignores the people struggling to save who have short/medium term goals, like myself saving for a house. S&S is too risky in a short time-frame and in today’s economy it feels so regressive adding yet one more barrier to getting on the housing ladder.

Asylum decision-makers have long complained about the unrealistic procedures. With a target of completing 5 ‘events’ a week, they’re not given leeway for complex cases, many put on PIPs and refusing asylum involves creating a very long response compared to granting it. They need to evolve.

Literally most European countries already do this. The UK is just catching up. Having free official ID is only a good thing as loads of people in power have no form of ID to vote or get a job.

I don’t dispute that but I’m talking about the cost of access to healthcare at the point of use and less about the cost of managing long-term health issues.

It’s a UK newspaper talking about UK finances. We don’t pay for healthcare like in the US.

Going back in time when the biggest thing in the news was a problem in the House of Lords blocking David Cameron’s changes to child tax credits.

I used my debit card to verify my age. Bearing in mind I’ve used my card on many companies for many purchases, and this is just one more thing I’m putting it in. Pretty sure if the government wanted my debit card information (for whatever reason???) they could easily get this without this hassle.

Difference is the UK and EU countries have GDPR and the data has to be deleted. In the US anyone can take your data and use it. This is at most a minor inconvenience. Just completed mine.
